Obituary
TURVEY- William E. passed away at his home on Friday May 4, 2018 at the age of 82. Bill is survived by his loving wife Marie Turvey (nee Shaw); by his children Craig Turvey, Jane Turvey (Tim Greenslade), David (Anne) Turvey and Drew Turvey; by his grandchildren Geoffrey Turvey, David (Sarah) Turvey, Steven Turvey and Kyle Turvey; by his great granddaughter Claire; his brother-in-law George (Betty Jean) Shaw, Larry (Elaine) Shaw; and his sister-in-law Lorna Shaw; and by his many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Jim Turvey; and his brothers-in-law Morris (Joan) Shaw and Dennie Shaw. Bill was born in London, Ontario, son of the late William and Eliza Turvey. He began his working career as a Brakeman and Spare Conductor for C&O Railway and later became a Journeyman Power Lineman at St. Thomas P.U.C. for the next 32 years. Bill was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Yarmouth Fire Department for 20 years, President of the Elgin County Railway Museum for 12 years, the current President of the Elgin County Farm Safety Council, a member of the board, shareholder and crew organizer with the Port Stanley Terminal Rail, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. The funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 436 Elm Street, St. Thomas on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment in Union Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Port Stanley Terminal Rail or the Elgin County Farm Safety Council would be appreciated. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
