Obituary of Gary R. Vedova

Gary Richard Vedova July 21, 1941 - September 12, 2017 The innkeeper has turned out the lights. Peacefully after a debilitating illness, Kettle Creek Inn innkeeper, Gary Vedova left this world September 12, 2017. He leaves behind and will be fondly remembered by his wife Heather, his sons Craig and his wife Maureen, Troy and partner Jessica, Dean and his wife Darcey, his brother Ron of Florida, sister Gail of Nevada, step son Stephan as well as business partner Jean Vedova. Gary originally from Timmins, graduated from Haileybury Mining School, Michigan Institute of Mining and Technology and Osgoode Law School, Toronto. He began his law career as a partner with McKay, McKay & Vedova in St. Thomas and later in Port Stanley as Vedova & Chamberlain. In 1983 Gary and his wife Jean branched into the new careers as the innkeepers of the Kettle Creek Inn, Port Stanley. He continued to practice law until 1990. Gary and Heather married in 2001. Gary and Jean remained business partners at the inn. As a family, the Vedovas loved camping, hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing and travelling. Gary enjoyed his tennis, golf, slow pitch, squash and curling. He was an active supporter of the St. Thomas Big Brothers, Optimist Club and especially the Port Stanley Festival Theatre. With his wife Heather, he rekindled his Italian roots by pursuing Italian studies, cooking classes and frequent travel to Italy. The Vedovas would like to express gratitude to all in the medical profession of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Port Stanley Medical Centre and University Hospital. In accordance with Gary’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at the Kettle Creek Inn on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.to all who wish to show their respects. Those wishing to make a donation in Gary’s memory may do so to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation.
