Obituary of John William Lewis

LEWIS – John William of Sparta passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side at Sakura House, Woodstock on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the age of 72.  Beloved father of Christine (Marty) Lewis and grandpa to Andrew and McKenna Dowe. Special friend to Annett and Richard Mathieu. John is predeceased by his parents Bill and Doreen Lewis and his brother George.  John worked for over 41 years at Canadian Timken Co. in St. Thomas before he retired in 2012. He loved spending time outdoors, riding his motorcycle to Port Dover every Friday the 13th, and doing different projects around the farm. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, his laugh, and his strength and determination in the face of a disease that ultimately took him away from those who loved him most. He will be missed each and every day.  Words cannot say enough about our gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Sakura House. Cynthia, Megan, Jennifer, Hannah, Dr Fryer, Janine and the rest of the team. You are such special people and we will never forget the care, dignity, and compassion you gave to John in his final days.  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Private interment of ashes in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.  If desired, donations to VON Sakura House would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
