Obituary of Dorothy Jean Smith

SMITH – Dorothy Jean (nee Caldwell) of St Thomas passed away peacefully at the St Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Smith.  Dorothy is survived by children Mike (late Kathy) Smith, Deb (Doug) Thompson, Rick (Paula) Smith, Cheryl (Drew) Clinton, Randy (Mary) Smith, and Mark Smith; grandchildren Terry, Cody and Christopher Clinton, Madison, Dallas Thompson, Bob Larson, Matthew, Shannon and Sawyer Smith; and of course her greatest loves her eight great grandchildren.  Her siblings will miss her knowledge on the history of the Caldwell family Robert (Rebecca) Caldwell, Bette (Ron) Harvey, Nancy (John) Dietz, Les (Louise) Caldwell; was predeceased by her mother and father Bessie and Pete Caldwell and her brothers Gerald, Peter and Paul Caldwell; all of her sister and brothers-in-law. She will always be remembered by many nieces and nephews.  She was employed by Northern Telecom and loved being at the cottage, doing gardening, shopping for the deals, and the company of many family members.  She also loved the Lord and ran the race to God’s glory.  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.  A private interment in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery.  If desired, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Iona Christian Fellowship Church.
