Obituary of Kenneth James Rice

RICE – Kenneth James of St Thomas passed away after a brief illness due to complications from surgery at the St Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 80.  Beloved husband and best friend of Alana Rice (nee. Pressey) of 41+ years.  Ken is survived by siblings Bob Rice (Terry), Linda Gibbons (Randy) and Terry Rice (Karen); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  Predeceased by his sister Karen Borda.  Ken was a retired Staff Sergeant for the St. Thomas Police Services.  He was also a member of the Otter Valley Riders Dirt Bike club and enjoyed competing in cross country enduros for many years.  He also enjoyed many miles across Canada and the US on his Harley Davidson with Alana and his buddies.  Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  As per Ken’s wishes there will be no services.  In Lieu of flowers, donations to City of St Thomas – New Animal Shelter or the Hospice of Elgin would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
