Obituary of Joyce Maureen Skelding

SKELDING- Joyce Maureen (nee Murison) passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Monday, August 26, 2024 at the age of 85.  Joyce is survived by her loving husband Glen; by her son Morgan (Stephanie) and their children Charlotte and Aloria of West Lorne; and by her sister Georgina of Huntsville.  Joyce was born in New Liskeard to the late George and Charlotte Murison.  She attended Alma College in St. Thomas where she met her husband, Glen.  Joyce and Glen were married for 61 years.  Joyce began her career as a teacher, beginning in Toronto, later in Luton, and eventually at St. Raphael’s in St. Thomas.  She was also co-owner of a grocery store in New Liskeard for 4 years before moving back to St. Thomas when Morgan was born.  She then embarked on a real estate career until her retirement.  A private burial will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  If desired, donations to Animal Aide of St. Thomas-Elgin would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
