Anytime we lose a member of the Fanshawe College family it's a sad, sad day. I did not know Allen or get to work with him. As a Professor at Fanshawe College I am proud of how we work with students and help them to realize their dreams. Allen sounds like he was on that path, and it was cut way too short. My heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends.

Allen joined us at Academic Upgrading just before the pandemic. His goal was to finish his high school and get his GED. He was a great student-- very dedicated to his studies and a lot of fun to teach. I have many memories of him joking around about the work and the strategies I encouraged him to use. When we were working on Geometry, I would tell him to use a diagram if he needed some clarification, but he was reluctant to try it. One day when we were going over his homework, he said, "OKAY OKAY! I guess I better tell you that I used a diagram, and YES, you were right-- it was helpful!" We had a good laugh about that (Math humour!). Allen was doing really well, and I am sure he would have passed his GED, but he wanted to keep studying and to feel very confident when he went in to write so he would do his best on the test. It makes me sad that he did not have a chance to complete his goal. We will miss Allen's cheerful presence very much--he was a part of our Wednesdays for over two years. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Dont even know where to start. Me and allen met in high school, been friends ever since. He was always so positive and happy! So generous! Always making sure you smiled. We’ve always been close but the last two years we became more then friends, we became family. I became a dad and he was there for it every step of the way. Spent almost every morning with my family and I. Treated my kids so well and spoiling them. Always making sure we were good. Thank you for everything man. One of a kind. Im going to miss you.
