Obituary of Chris Casserly
CASSERLY- Christopher Joseph of St. Thomas passed away suddenly from natural causes on March 25, 2022. Chris was an award-winning musician and songwriter, and you’ve likely heard his lovely voice already. He composed for film, and sang for television shows and commercial campaigns. He also enjoyed acting and screenwriting. His hilarious impressions and stories of his adventures made people laugh until tears ran down their faces. Chris made friends and helped people wherever music took him, including New York City, Nashville, Los Angeles, Playa del Carmen, and countless venues throughout his beloved Canada. He also had an uncanny knack for saving stray dogs wherever he went. Chris grew up in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood where his loves of music, food, and the arts were richly nurtured. While living in St. Thomas, Chris made strong ties to his community, teaching guitar, supporting local artists, and organizing an annual charity concert in Pinafore Park. Predeceased by his beloved mother Annie, father Robert, and dear brother Patrick. Survived by sisters Pam (Shaun), Jane (Gerard); niece Kyra; his dear friend and companion Lucia; and extended family and friends, all of whom he loved dearly. Chris lived his life as an artist and storyteller, and he never wavered from his passions. May the wind be always at your back, Chris. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on June 4th, 2022, noon to 2pm, at Harmony Hall, 2 Gower St, Toronto. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, St. Thomas. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca In lieu of flowers please consider donations to these charities that Chris supported: The St Thomas Elgin Food Bank and Pets Friends for Life, both in St. Thomas.
