Obituary of Irvin Robert Hill

Early on Thursday, March 10, 2022 our family said farewell to Irvin Hill as he began his journey to the Spirit World. He was a proud Bear Clan member of the Oneida Nation of the Thames. He was a loving, caring, person with many friends and family that he cared for deeply and they returned in kind. He was one of the punniest people you had ever met. Irvin had the best and most infectious laugh, and he made it a point that everyone around him was having a good time. He was never lost, always found a different way to his destination, even if it meant turning around. Irvin was an avid marathon runner and enjoyed being out in nature whether it be walking his dog everyday or following the Pow Wow trail throughout Canada. Irvin was born on October 19, 1958 in St. Thomas, Ontario to Dorothy and Irvin Hill. Irvin moved to Ottawa as an adult, where he had many friends and colleagues at the Odawa Friendship Centre, Wabano, and Carleton University. He was always very active in his community wherever he lived. Irvin left behind a son Matthew, a dog child Bella, siblings Darlene (Henk), Bonnie (John), Connie (Mike), Louise, David, Lois, Glenn (Michelle), Taylor and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Irvin Hill. Irvin was very proud of his role in the movie Black Robe. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 7:00-9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:30 pm, with visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Cremation to follow.
