Obituary of Verne Frederick Purvis

PURVIS - Verne Frederick of St. Thomas passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the age of 61. Loved husband of Jo Purvis (nee Newson) for 39 years. He will be missed by his daughters Cheryl (Josh) Balsden and their children Brooke, Caleb and Henry and Stacie Hearn and her children Brinley and Leah; by his siblings-in-law Rick (Judy) Newson of Brantford and June (Dave) MacDonald of London; and father-in-law Ray Newson. Predeceased by his sister Catherine VanHarn. Verne was born in St. Thomas to the late Jack and Faye Purvis. He worked at GKN Sinter Metals as a supervisor, Ford Motor Company in Talbotville and later at Geerlinks Home Hardware in St. Thomas. Verne enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR and attending tractor pulls. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 7:00-9:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
