Obituary of Tokio Matsumoto
MATSUMOTO – Tokio. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tokio Matsumoto after a courageous, long fought battle. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, January 1944 and passed away on June 10, 2021 in his 78th year. Loving husband of Rosemary for 52 years. Proud Father of Tamara (Jason) Slota and Troy (Karin) Matsumoto. Cherished Grandpa of Ava and Westin. Son of the late Shotaro and Midori Matsumoto. Dear sister of Michiko Suzuki, Shizue Matsumoto, Sumiye Beard and brother of Tsutomu Tom Matsumoto. Predeceased by brothers Kenji, Tsugio (Jim) and Tatsuo, brother-in-law’s John Suzuki and Leonard Beard, sister-in-law’s Peggy and Judy Matsumoto. Tokio will also be sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Tokio was an accomplished Certified General Accountant who practiced in the St. Thomas and surrounding area for many years before falling ill forcing his early retirement. His clients were very important to him and many became close friends over the years. In his free time, he would enjoy watching sports and was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. A heartfelt thank you and appreciation goes out to the wonderful doctors, nurses and the support staff from our community VON Health Care team for all their compassion, kindness and assistance during this difficult time. In keeping with Tokio’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). Interment of ashes at a later date. If desired, donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
