Obituary of Jean MacArthur

MACARTHUR- Rosella Jean (nee McIntyre) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the age of 96.  Beloved wife of the late John MacArthur (2024).  Jean will be dearly missed by her daughter Susan MacArthur (Michael Hurlburt); her son Ian MacArthur; her grandchildren Jenn Sloetjes (Jason Powchuk), Chris Sloetjes (Andrea Vaincourt), Callum MacArthur (Anna McGeeney), Merrill MacArthur (Brad Wiebusch), and Alexis MacArthur; by her sister Judy Olsen (Richard); and by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her son David MacArthur (2001); and by her siblings Calvin McIntyre, Isabel Taylor, and Arthur Green.  Jean was born in London, Ontario to the late Ruthven and Violet McIntyre.  Jean began her career as a teacher at the St. Thomas Business College, she owned and operated a business for the telecommunications industry with her husband John for many years.  Jean loved her family and was a devoted member at St. Thomas Christian Church.  She was a long-standing member of the Disciples of Canada College Board and was a recipient of both the Alexander Campbell for US/Canada Lifetime Achievement and the George H. Stewart for Canada Lifetime Achievement in higher education.  A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at St. Thomas Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 451 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  Jean and John’s cremated remains will be interred together in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery on a later date.   Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  If desired, donations to St. Thomas Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
